Shirley Marina Meredith (nee McWhirter) of New Richmond passed away at her home surrounded by family on June 3, 2025 at the age of 70, after a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Betty MacWhirter and brother John.
Shirl, as she was affectionately known, was a light in the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind her loving husband Ted, daughters Carolyn (Codey) and Vicky (Tyler), her sisters Jean (Terry), Isabel (Moe), Dorothy (Russell), Sandra (Gary), Patricia, Wendy (Kevin) and Jennifer (Jamie), brothers Jimmy, Tommy (Elaine) and Phillip (Sylvie). She also leaves many other family members and friends who sadly will miss her.
Born on April 17, 1955, Shirley's warm presence and caring nature left an undeniable mark on all who knew her.
She dedicated the last year of her life caring for her beloved grandchildren Theo and Karlee and making the most of every day. Shirl's love for her family was unparalleled, and she often expressed this through the time she spent with them and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. She loved to spend
time in her kitchen and was always cooking or baking something delicious for her family or for anyone who stopped for a visit.
Shirl's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
Her laughter, her love of life, and her ability to make everyone feel cherished will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
As we say goodbye, we celebrate the life of a woman who was a beacon of kindness and love. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her family, a testament to the beautiful life she lived, and the countless lives she touched. Shirl's memory will be treasured forever, as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the light she brought into this world.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Linda LeMore-Brown Foundation.
Professional services have been entrusted to the Henri Thibodeau Funeral Home Inc, a subsidiary of the H.G. Division network Certified Distinction by the Corporation des Thanatologues du Québec and by the Bureau de Normalisation de Québec.

Deeply saddened for my close Friend Vicky and her family, for the loss of the matriarch to their family. I had the pleasure of meeting Shirley one year on her trip out to Sk. When her and Ted came to visit Vicky and Tyler and we gathered around the dining table and shared stories and enjoyed laughter and everyone’s good company. What a beautiful lady she was and her heart was so full. She was very proud of her daughter Vicky for creating a life she would enjoy out in the Prairies. She had a smile that could warm your heart with a sweet little laugh. She was such a lively personality to have around for the little visit we had together at Vicky and Tyler’s farm. My condolences to all the family of Shirley, we know she was a treasure and every memory you have must be cherished. You are in our hearts during this difficult time of grief
My heart goes out to all the family membres
Carolyn, my dearest sympathie

Dear, sweet Shirley.
I've hesitated over the past few months, wanting to stop in and tell you how much you mean to all of us, but I didn't want to get upset in front of you. You were so strong for so long, and I hope you're resting now. I hope that you realized how loved you were, with everyone making sure you had loved ones around you as you made your journey to the other side. I hope you knew how truly special you were, how talented you were in the kitchen, and how things will never be the same. You will be missed beyond words, Shirl. Watch over Ted and the girls, they'll need the guidance and reassurance. See you on the other side.
