Bertine (Bertha) Smith Ross

11 janvier 1950 - 29 juillet 2025

Bertine Mary Smith, aged 75, passed away peacefully at home on July 29th, 2025, in New Carlisle, Québec, surrounded by those she loved the most.

Born on January 11, 1950, in New Carlisle, Bertine--affectionately known as Bertha to her loved ones--was the cherished wife, mother and friend to many.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by her husband Donald Ross; her sons John and Ben; her daughter Diane and son-in-law Hasan; her beloved grandchildren Aya, Kareem, and Dalia; her sister Marguerite Lapointe; her brother Oscar Smith; her sister-in-law Shirley and brother-in-law Laurence and family; and her dearest friends Janice and Gary Sylvester. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Bertha will be forever remembered for her boundless generosity, kind spirit, and the deep love she poured into every role she held--wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and foster mother to many. She faced life--and its final chapter--with quiet strength, and steadfast hope. Even in her most difficult moments, she never gave up. Her compassion and gentle spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and nurses from the CLSC, the staff at Maria Hospital for their gentle and compassionate care. A special thank you goes to Dr. Marie-Helene Basque for her extraordinary kindness and dedication during Bertine's final days.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the Henri Thibodeau Funeral Home, New Carlisle; visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. with the Ceremony starting at 7 p.m

Professional services have been entrusted to the Henri Thibodeau Funeral Home Inc, a subsidiary of the H.G. Division Network certified Distinction by the Corporation des Thanatologues du Québec and by the Bureau de Normalisation de Québec.

The sweetest, kindest and purest hearted person in my life. Me and my grandmother shared the best of memories from weekly phone calls while I was at university to unforgettable summers in New Carlisle our hometown. I will always cherish our memories. I love you forever and always grandma.
